The three-dimensional position of zygion was investigated on the moire photographs of 96 male Japanese skulls. The site of the zygion was represented by x, y and z values in the rectangular coordinates and by r, φ and θ in the polar coordinates with the original point at the porion. The side difference in mean values was statistically not significant for all these coordinate data. The average position of zygion was lower than the eye-ear plane. It was more anterior, more lateral and more inferior on the skulls with larger values of cranial size, such as cranial length, cranial breadth, auricular height and bizygomatic breadth. The zygion lay posterior and more medial on more brachycephalic skulls.
