The incidence in two types of hand-clapping was investigated in healthy Japanese subjects, 263 males and 259 females, 4 to 89 years of age. The mode of handclapping was associated significantly with that of hand-clasping, and the more frequent incidence of the right-thumb-superior type was common in both items. The right-thumb-inferior type of the hand-clapping was correlated highly significantly with the left-handeness. That is, the majority of left-handed subjects clapped their hands with the right thumb inferior to the left thumb. The differences between sexes and among age groups were not significant as to the incidence in the both types of hand-clapping.
