The incidence on the mode of arm-folding was analyzed in terms of the new 8 sub-types as well as of the traditional R & L types. The subjects consisted of apparently healthy Japanese, 262 males and 259 females, 4 to 89 years of age. The R-type was more frequent than the L-type in all age groups, excepting senile males. The differences in incidence of the sub-types among the assembled 3 age groups were highly significant, and the sex differences were highly significant only in adults. The sub-types RPP and LPP could be referred to a "closed" style and were abundant in youngsters and seniles on both sexes. The sub-types RAA and LAA representing an "open" style were significantly most common in female adults. The sub-types RPA and LAP, which might imply a "partly open" or "partly colosed" style, were significantly more frequent in male adults than in female adults.
