The reactivity of malondialdehyde (MDA) with spermidine at the physiological pH was considerably higher than that with putrescine, glycine, lysine, methylamine or dimethylamine, and the major reaction product of MDA-spermidine adduct was identified as N^4-(2-propenal) spermidine.
