Analysis of Endogenous Gibberellins and Abscisic Acid in Vegetative Shoots of Normal and Weeping Japanese Cherry (Prunus spachiana)

Gibberellin A_1 (GA_1), GA_<15>, GA_<19>, GA_<20>, GA^<29>, GA_<44>, and abscisic acid (ABA) were identified from vegetative shoots of Japanese cherry (Prunus spachiana Kitamura f. ascendens Kitamura,Edo-higan) by full-scan GC-MS. GA_4, GA_9, GA_<34>, and GA_<53> were also tentatively identified. The endogenous levels of these gibberellins and of ABA were higher in the weeping cherry (P.spachiana Kitamura f. spachiana cv. Plenorosea, Yaebeni-shidare) than in the normal cultivar (Edo-higan).
