^<27>Al Nuclear Magnetic Relaxation Studies of Spin Fluctuation in Ual_2

The microscopic magnetic properties of UAI. have been invetigated by "AN NMRfrom 1.5 to 500 K. The observed T-dependence of 1 / T. indicates a cross-over fromhigher-T local-moment-like behavior to lower-T Fermi-liquid behavior with a charac-teristic spin fluctuation (SF) temperature 7";TOOK. Above T', a characteristicenergy-scale of the SF is found to be large and to increase almost Iinearly with temper-ature, indicating both strong hybridization between 5f and conduction electrons andthe dominance of single-site dynamics in the U-moment relaxation at higher tempera-tures. Below T', a development of significant g-dependence of the SF with decreasingtemperature is concluded from the analysis of T. in connection with previous neutronmeasurements. Based on the observed proportionality between an increase ofI / (T.T ) and that of z below 40 K, the onset of a ferromagnetic correlation, in addition to an only weakly y-dependent single-site fluctuation with a larger energy-scale,is suggested at lower temperatures."Al NMR, nuclear magnetic relaxation, spin fluctuation, UAI.
