Piezoreflectance of K^+ 3p Core Excitons in KBr

Effects of a uniaxial stress along the [0114 direction on the K" 3p core excitonsin KBI- are studied with the riezoreflectance technic?ue. From stress dichroism,it is concluded that the core excitons located at 20.1 eV and 21.6 eV are due tothe intraatomic transitions from the K" 3t state to the 4s state and from the samestate to the 3d7 state, respectively. Trigonal deformation potentials or these coreexcitons are determined and comrared with that of the r exciton at the absorptionedge.
