Spin Fluctuations in the Heavy Fermion Superconductor UPd_2Al_3 Studied by Neutron Inelastic Scattering

XX7e hatve fotrnd that there 211'41) two contributions to the dynaraaical response in UPdzAl3. Thefirst is a heatvily dsxnaped spirr-xvave, xvhich lasts been observed previotrsly. It shoxvs no appreciablechange on xvarztaing throtrgh T., lout sof'tens and becoraaes ox'erdauaaped as T apjcroaches Tz. Thesecond is a qu?xsiel?tstic-like couaaponent that exists irt th.e antifer'r'orna.qnetically ordered state andis strongly localized strotrnd the ordered xx'ztvevector. As a ['tznction of' tertaperattzre this conaj.vonentexhibits at taainiraatntaa at the strper'condtrcting transition tenaaper'attrre T., ;tnd increases strotaglybeloxv T.. Its width in the naottaenttrtaa sjoace ?rt T : 0.5 K corresponds to 21 correlation length of'x50 A, which is close to the strpercondtrctirmg coherence length of '-85 A.
