Surface Roughness Effect on Raman Scattering from Surface Polaritons

We present numerical studies of Raman scattering from surface polaritons in afree-standing thin sample with rough surfaces, as experimentally observed earlierby Ushioda, Aziza, Valdez and Mattei. The surface roughness is asstuned to berepresented by a sinusoidal grating. In otu' model, the net enhancement of theRaman cross section is shown to arise from excitation of guided mode polaritons.
