Dispersion Relation of Cl-Surface Exciton Polaritons in Anisotropic ZnO

Using a nonlocal Maxwell equation and employing models on specular reflectionof excitons at a surface, we describe the dispersion relation of surface excitonpolaritons in anisotropic spatially dispersive medium, suitably generalized forCl-excitons in Zn0, Numerical calculations have been performed and those resultsare compared with ones for different additional boundary conditions previouslyderived for isotropic media. It may be noted that the anisotropy influences sig-nificantly to the characteristics of surface exciton polaritons, 'We find that theexperimental dispersion relation measured by DeMartini et at. can be successfullyinterpreted by the present treatment.s, including an intrinsic dead layer of 50 Ain thickness.
