Theoretical studies on nonlinear excitation and detection of surface excitonpolaritons (SEP) by optical mixing are presented, taking into account tlne spatialdispersion effect. Numerically estimated power of the signal indicates tlxat such anonlinear effect allows us to obtain characteristics of SEP for an air-SEP activematerial geometry. Moreover, it Clll be expected tlxat though the scattered in-tensity is considerably weak, it is detectable.
