The magnetic nature of the relaxed excited state (RES) of F centers and spin-flipping processes in the optical pumping cycle have been clarified by studyingthe magnetic circular polarization (MCP) of emission when the pumping light ismodulated between right and left circular polarization at the frequency of (a/2m).Paramagnetic cemponent J,(a) of MCP is found to be proportional to the spinpolarization P'(co) in the RES with a proportionality constant F.. Frcm theanalysis of the dependence of A.(co) at particular frequencies on the pumpingphoton energy E p. , F, is estimated. Thus, the f,7,-dependence of the net spin-mixing parameter 8, is determined. The values of F. and z, are found to be smallerthan those determined previously. The source of discrepancy is discussed. It issuggested that the spin-mixing in the non-radiative transition process is notneglected.
