Magnetic Circular Polarization of F Center Emission and the Spin Mixing Processes in Optical Cycle

Magnetic circular polarization (MCP) of F cen tar omission has been mneasuredfor KCI, KBr, Kl, RbCI, and RbBr. The optical pumping cycle is proposed toinclude three spin mixing parameters in absorj:>tion, radiationless decay (e..),and emissiota processes. From the analysis of experimental data using formulaederived from rate equations for the cycle, para- and dia-magnetic comjconents(A, and J.) of MCP, and the spin mixing paran?eters are determined. Pumpingphoton energy dependence of .d. are observed. It SIIOWS that 'rl for KBr dependson photon energy and predominates the net spin rmixing parameter ('t)- Tempera-lure dependence of ,3,3 are shown to be relevant to the spin orbit interaction 10the relaxed excited state of F center. The source of the discrepancy found betweenour determined values of ?. and those by other sc:hoots is clarified.
