The magnetic properties of the relaxed excited state (RES) of the F center areinvestigated on the basis of the vibronic theory including time interaction with F;-mode phonon; both the vibronic and the spin-orbit interactions are diagonalized.By analyzing the experimental results of the .(=-factor in the RES, the magneticcircular polarization in omission, and the temperature dependence of radiativelifetime of the RES, the vibronic parameter values and thcc spin-orbit interactionconstant, 2, are determined consistently for KF, KCI and KBr. The results showthat l) 2-values in the RES are positive and have the same order of magnitude asthose in the unrelaxed excited state; 2) the orbital y-factors are reduced ap-preciably; 3) the spin polarization in the RES, U", is of the relatively small orderof 10-'. An alternative method to estimate P' is proposed.
