Based on the Bogan and Fitchen model of the RES, the spin-orbit interaction constant of the p orbital, λ_p, has been related to the observed quantities. Thus estimated λ_p values are large of about 20 meV for KCl and KBr. The g_<orb> values are also determined: They are less than unity showing reduction due to vibronic structure. The fraction of p-function at the lowest RES, which is important for our analysis, has been estimated experimentally.
