Heat Capacity of Two Dimensional Heisenberg Antiferromagnet with s=5/2

The heat capacities of a quasi two dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnetMn(HCOO).' 2H.0 and its isomorphous and nonmagnetic salts Mg(HCOO).' 2H,0and Zn(HCOO),' 2H.0 have been measured between 2 and 50 K. The lattice heatcapacities of these salts are examined and found to be reproduced by a sum of bothDebye and Einstein type heat capacities. By subtracting the lattice heat capacity thusobtained, the magnetic heat capacity of Mn(HCOO).' 2H.0 is obtained un-ambiguously. This is compared with the calculated one by high temperature seriesexpansion. Agreement is excellent with J/k= -0.34-l-0.01 K in the temperature rangeabove 6 K where the convergence of the series is good. The present result above T. issuggested to give a probable estimate for the ideal s = 5 /2 two dimensional Heisenbergantiferromagnet.
