Fluctuation of spontaneous magnetization in the course of development withdecreasing temperature was observed for the first time in the neighborhood ofthe critical temperature when tlte uniform magnetization of a weakly cantedantiferromagnet Mn(HCOO).2H.0 (Ty=3.6S6 K) was measured under theexternal magnetic fields less than 10 m0e by using a SQUID magnetometer. The amplitude of the fluctuation became smaller with decreasing temperatureand below about 3.3 K the uniform magnetization was found to develop alongthe curve of the ordinary magnetization-temperature one. The fluctuation of themagnetization was found to occur only in the measurement with decreasingtemperature at a finite sweep rate. The phenomenon has some resemblanceto that of the Barkhausen effect which is observed in the course of the magnetiza-tion process under external magnetic field.
