Two kinds of Field-Induced Spin Ordered States in β-Ni (NO_3)_2・4H_2O

The sr>ecific heats C and suscer>tibilities x are measured in each field-inducedsr>in ordered state for the A- and B-site tons in /?-Ni(N0a)z?4Hz0, when anexternal maznetic field is r?reciselv alimned along ion z-axis. When Hl/zx, theT.-H r>hase boundary' ranues between 9.9 k0e and 44.5 k0e. The maximum T.on this r>hase boundar>r is 0.557 K at H=l7.6 k0e. The corresr>ondinx r>haseboundar>' for H//zs ranxes between 32.2k0e and 55.z k0e with a maximum T.of 0.396 K at 43.7 k0e. These results tooether with the temperature dependencesof C and z at zero field prove the presence of the two different ordered states.The crvstal field r>arameters and the exchanze interactions for these sites areestimated to be (D,x -Es)/k='2,.'2. K, (Ox-f-ffx)/&=8.2 K, (Da -Es)lk=4.S K,(Z)g-l-fj3)//c=8.l K and 2zJ?/k=0.97 K and 2z./.=0,95 K (antiferro-magnetic),respectively.
