Anomalous Magnetization of RbFeCl_3 around 31T in Pulsed High Magnetic Fields

Magnetizations of the triangular antiferromagnets RbFeC1. and RbFeBr. aremeasured in pulsed high magnetic fields up to 40T at liquid 'He temperatures. In thecase of RbFeC], the magnetization is found to increase almost linearly from the zerofield, and to be flattened at some critical field of ]4T. Further application of magneticfields induces an anomalous double-step magnetization around 3IT. Thephenomenon is similar to the one which was found in CsFeC1. at some highermagnetic field, but noteworthy is the existence of a fine structure in the anomalousmagnetization of RbFeCl.. The anomaly has thus far not been observed for RbFeBr3in the measured magnetic fields up to 85T.
