A magnetic ordering of CoCl.-graphite intercalation compound (GIC) and thestage dependence are investigated in detail by simultaneous measurements of a suscep-tibility and a magnetization. The ordering develops successively in two steps at T..and T., (< T..) for all the compounds of the first, second and third stage. The intermediate state between T.. and T.. is interpreted by a free energy consideration as astate with an intra-island order and an infer-island disorder, based on the intra-planarisland structure of the compound. The range of the intermediate state AT.(= T.. - T..) for the second stage sample is larger than that for the first stage one andalmost the same as that for the third stage one, which may indicate that the infer-island interaction within each plane and between different planes is essential for thetransition T...
