Kolmogorov's Spectcrum in a Freely Decaying Turbulence

The three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation is solved numerically by the spectralmethod with 340' modes starting from a high-symmetric flow which has a few Fouriercomponents at lower wavenumbers. Kolmogorov's power form of the energy spectrum, Elk, t)=Ae(t)"'k "' with A $ 2.0is observed over almost one decade of thewavenumbers after the enstrophy reaches the maximum value. The Kolmogorov cons-tant A is preserved, though the inertial subrange becomes narrower, in the subsequentdecay period during which the microscale Reynolds number decreases from 150 to 70.
