Method for Solving the Nambu-Salpeter-Bethe Equation and Its Application to Nucleon-Nucleon Scattering in the ^3P_1 State

A method for numerically solving the Numbu-Salpeter-Bethe equation in realistic cases is investigated. The method is based on a variational principle and can be applied to all energy regions. By this method the ^<3>P_1 phase shifts in nucleon-nucleon scattering at 10, 100, 205 and 270 Mev incident energies are calculated in the ladder approximation of PS(PS) coupling. Information on the accuracy of solutions is also obtained. The numerical solutions in the case of neglecting the virtual nucleon pair effects are close to the results of the 3-dimensional nonstatic calculation with the one-pion-exchange potential. It is shown that nucleon pair effects are not large.
