Nonrelativistic Limit of the Renormalized BS Wave Function at the Origin : Particles and Fields

The Bethe-Salpeter wave function at the origin, in the Coulomb potential α/γ, is regarded as the annihilation vertex and renormalized by an appropriate vertex-renormalization constant, which is obtained from the ladder vertex equation. The weak-coupling limit (nonrelativistic limit) of the renormalized wave function at the origin (WFO) is investigated numerically. It is shown that the deviation from the nonrelativistic WFO is proportional to α^σ (σ≈ 0.95 ). The renormalized WFO of the Dirac equation is also studied. The correction to the nonrelativistic WFO, in this case, is a power series of α^2 starting from the order α^2.
