The Relativisitic Formula for the Leptonic Decay Widths of Vector Mesons and an Estimate of Quark-pair Creation Effect

Relativistic generalization of the van Royen-Weisskopf formula is made by using the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude. The instantaneous Salpeter equation is solved numerically for the linear confining potential. The decay widths differ largely from the corresponding non-relativistic ones. The virtual pair creation effect on the decay width is estimated to be large for the lighter masons.
