This paper is described in not only the influence factors for dynamic penetration resistance of dry sands, but also a development on the measurement method of dynamic motion in a steel rod. To estimate the particle velocity and the stress at any station of the rod under the same condition, the measurement method of the acceleration and the stress through the wheatstone bridge circuits composed of eight strain gauges is proposed. From the comparison of acceleration between the proposed bridge circuit and accelerator, it is clarified that the proposed method is able to accurately measure the acceleration in the rod. On the other hand, laboratory penetration tests with dry sands which are different from mean grain size are carried out for various combinations of overburden pressure and relative density. It is shown that the penetration depth obtained from the laboratory tests is influenced by those factors. The experimental model which makes a connection with between the penetration depth and those factors is proposed.
