An elasto plastic constitutive model for the undrained strain softening behaviors of normally consolidated cohesive soils is proposed by using the none associated flow rule. Parameter studies are perfomed on two proposed yield functions to examine the applicability and the limitation of the model. The predicted strain softening behaviors are compared with the triaxial undrained compression test results for alluvial clays and diatomaceous mud rocks. It is recognized that the proposed model is valid for the analysis of undrained stress strain relations taking account of the strain softening behaviors.
