An anisotropic critical state model for K_0 consolidated soil has been presented and compared with Cam clay model based on the isotropic yield surface. The model utilizes an anisotropic yield surface within the framework of bounding surface plasticity and requires only four soil parameters. It is shown that the anisotropic model predictions agree well with the observed stress strain behaviors of K_0 consolidated soil and better than the ones by the isotropic model.
