A Vibration Control for Tracked Vehicles

A simple vibration control scheme for a tracked vehicle is presented. The track supported by rollers is treated as one vibrating string. The finite element method is then applied to calculate eigenvalues for the track. The frequencies of forced vibrations calculated from the speeds of vehicle are compared with the eigenvalues in order to analyze the vibration phenomena of the vehicles. Resonance of the track occurring at a certain speed of the actual vehicle can be well simulated by using this method. To avoid the resonance and to attain higher operating speed of the vehicle, the position of two rollers and the magnitude of tension acting on the track are suggested.
