Survey of the Influence of Mongolian Plants on Lipase Activity in Mouse Plasma and Gastrointestinal Tube

Mongolian plants were screened for inhibitory activity on lipase in mouse plasma. Methanolic extracts of Linum sibiricum (aerial part), Rhodiola rosea (rhizome) and Veronica longifolia (aerial part) inhibited the enzyme activity in isolated mouse plasma by greater than 20% (final concentration in reaction solution, 300μg/ml) and the effect was concentration dependent. Phenolic compound-free methanolic extracts of these plants did not show any inhibitory activity to indicate that phenolic constituents contributed to the inhibitory actions. Rhodiola rosea also showed a depressive effect on the elevation of postprandial blood triglyceride levels to some extent.
