Comparative morphological studies were carried out on the fruits of three species of the genus Evodia (Rutaceae); E. rutaecarpa, E. officinalis and E. bodinieri, which are the original plants of the Chinese natural medicine "Wu Zhu Yu". These three species can be distinguished from each other by the morphology of the style and stigma. E. rutaecarpa has short, robust and glabrous styles and large stigmas; E. officinalis has long, slender and pubescent styles and small stigmas; E. bodinieri has long, slender and nearly glabrous styles and small stigmas. The results obtained in this study should be useful for correct identification of the commercial natural medicine "Wu Zhu Yu".
