Kβ X-Ray Emission and K X-Ray Absorption of Chlorine in K_2ReCl_6, K_2OsCl_6, K_2IrCl_6 and K_2PtCl_6

The chlorine Kβ emission spectra of a series of compounds K_2MCl_6 (M=Re, Os, Ir and Pt) and the chlorine K absorption-edge spectrum of K_2ReCl_6 are measured and presented along with the chlorine K absorption-edge spectra of K_2OsCl_6, K_2IrCl_6 and K_2PtCl_6, reported previously. The emission spectra consist of a prominent peak with a low-energy shoulder. The absorption-edge spectrum of K_2ReCl_6 is composed of a sharp double peak and an intense broad structure.
