The Ka emission and Kp emission spectra in I'tuorescence of Cl in NH.Cl aremeasured with a txvo-crystal vacuum spectrometer. The Cl Kp emission spectrum ispresented along 'with fate Cl K absorption, (?l L... absorption and vacuunatnltraviolet (VUV) absorption spectra of Nl4.C1, r-eported previously. By using themeasured emission spectra and the VUV absorption spectrum, the energy position ofthe bottom of Llte cxonduction band is SIIOWII in the Cl K absorption and Cl L...ab-sorption spectra. The first sharp peak of the Cl L... absorption is identified as beingdue to a core exciton, the energy level of which is for-rued below the bottom of the conduction band. The binding energy of the exciton is estimated to be 1.1(f0.l) eV.
