A changeable disk-stacked corrugated rnetal wall slow wave structure (SWS) employed in back-ward wave oscillators (BWO's) is proposed and studied experimentally. The periodic length ofthe SWS is varied by means of the rearrangenaent of the two kinds of disks with different irisradii. Numerical analysis of the dispersion relation is made ['or the several versions of the SWS,and sorne of them are compared with uneasuretnents. The difl'erence between the calculatedand the measured values is confirmed to be within 5%. The changeable SWS presented here isexpected to be very he[pftr1 in research on high-power plasrrta-filled BWO's.
