Study of the Electro-Reflectance of KDP

The electro-reflectance spectra of KDP have been measured by aj>plying anelectric field along the z-axis in the photon energy region from 6 eV to 10.5 eV,froun which the changes of the real part (da.) and imaginary part (zle.) of thedielectric constant arc deduced. The spectruna of At. shows an absorp'Lion band-like shape at about 8.3 eV, a little lower energy than the reflection suunttait, and isinterpreted as the change of the absorption intensity relevant to 'tire electrontransfer frona the oxygen ions of a P03 tetrahedron to the nearby hydrogen tons.The spectruun of Je) shows a dispersion-like shape around the ,3e. band, andthe change in the region below 7 eV well corresponds to the spectr'am of theelectro-optic'coefficient p5., though discrepancy is found in the absolute valuesof 1e3 between the one naeasured and the one estixnated from the cl<cctro-optic.effect.
