In X-ray irradiated KCN crystals containing more than 1 motel of TICI,ESR signals of Tl}" centers which are characterized by g =2.04 have been newlyobserved. This pair center ha.s a 6v hole whose wavefuncticcn is almost localizedon one of the thallium ions (hyperfine constant .{=I05 GHz), and only a littlefraction (about 1 '3) of the wavefunction is distributed on the other thallium ion(J'=].0 GH,).Further investigations suggest that this trapped hole center is associated witha trapped electron center and exists in the form of (Tll" -"[1'). Another kind ofassociated center (Tlf -Tl") is also inferred to exist. The two kinds of associatedcenters are thermally more stable than any other trapped electron centers andtrapped hole centers.
