Disappearance of Bulk Ferromagnetism of Iron at High Pressures above 9GPa

At high pressures exceeding 9GPa, the disappearance of the ferromagnetism of iron has been detected by magnetization measurements. The value of this critical pressure is consistent with the theories in which the Stoner condition for ferromagnetism has been examined along with the martensitic transition path from the bcc to the hcp structure of iron. The sluggish or hysteresis behavior of the compressed iron is discussed.
