Effects of compression and magnetic dilution on the first and second order phasetransitions have been examined with Mn(HCOO).?2Hz0, which exhibits both of thespin axis reorientation at I.=1.70K and the antiferronaagnetic transition atT.=3.69 K. The application of hydrostatic pressure (p) makes a clear shift of T.(p)(d7'.(p)/d7t= -F-0.0221.(p.) K-kbar '; 7t.:0 kbar) preserving a sharp heat capacitypeak. However, the transition at 7'.(p.)=l.70I( becomes quite obscure in thepressure with a broadening of the heat capacity peak around 7'.(7t)(d7'.(p)/c1p= -1-0.0781.(7tg) K=kbar '). These phenomena are compared with the phase transi-lions in the magnetically diluted system with Zn" ions.
