Local Ordering Features in the Structure of Liquid Ga-Te Alloys

An X-ray diffraction study of liquid Ga-Te alloys has been carried out to revealtheir structural characteristics. The results strongly indicate that the structuralfeatures of liquid Ga -Te alloys can be given by the short range order based onthe chemical-bonding nature rather than the so-called simple random mixture ofconstituents. A feasible model explaining their particular structural features hasbeen demonstrated by using the defected-zinc-blend type ordering units of solidGa.Te.. The temperature dependence of these characteristic feature has alsobeen discussed in terms of the partial dissociation of the chcmical-bonding naturewith increasing of temperature.
