The structure factors of liquid Zn at 450'C and liquid Pb at 340'C have been defermined by neutron diffraction with sufficient accuracy and are compared with those byX-ray diffraction. A remarkable difference in these structure factors is clearly foundaround the first peak region, as well as a slight variation of the first peak position andit is apparently larger than the experimental errors, for both liquid metals. The ton-electron correlation function has been evaluated from this difference with the help oftheoretical calculation of the electron-electron correlation function. By the Fouriertransform of this function, the radial distribution function of valence electronsaround ion has also been calculated. The tonic radii obtained in this work wereequivalent to those proposed by Pauling.
