Thermodynamic Investigations on the AgBr-CuBr System

The calculations of specific heats of (Ag.Cu. .)Br were compared with experimen-tal data taken from the literature. The negative temperature coefficients of specificheat (dC./d7'<0) in the d-phase at the concentrations higher than 25 mole% CuBrwere well reproduced by assuming a random distribvation of cations on the octahedraland tetrahedral sites. On the basis of this disorder model, the formation energy ofions on the tetrahedral sites were determined for various compositions. It was foundthat the formation energy becomes lower with increasing the amount of CuBr.
