Crystal Structure of CuBrSe_3

The crystal structure of CuBrSe.. at room temperature has been analyzed by theRietveld method with X-ray powder diffraction data. It belongs to the orthorhombicsystem with the space group Pnc2, and has lattice constants of v=4.481(1) A,#=7.672(1)A, c=14.329(2)A. The structure of CuBrSe.. includes the ordered arrangement of Cu" ions. On the basis of the results of structure analysis, it is suggested that the nature of the bond between Cu and Br atoms is ionic, and that between Se atoms is covalent.
