Pressure Effect on the Antiferromagnetism in La_2CuO_<4-y>

The antiferromagnetism in La.Cu0. , has been studied by neutron diffractionunder hydrostatic pressures up to l .5 GPa. The three-dimensional (3D) ordering fern-perature T. strongly increases with pressure at the rate of 18.5 K/ GPa; thus, (1 / T.)(c1T./ dP) is 0.083 / GPa. On the other hand, the ordered magnetic moment M is sup-pressed under pressure with (1/A#)(dA#/dP) - -0.08/GPa. A correlation betweenthe magnetism and superconductivity is discussed.
