Resistivity Minimum in Antiferromagnetic <Cr>___--Co Alloys

The electrical resistivity of Cr-Co alloys containing up to 8 at. % Co is measuredin detail over the temperature range 1.8K-340K. The resistivity minimum isobserved in the alloys containing more than 2'at. '/ Co. The temperature of theminimum and the depth of the minimum increase rapidly with the concentrationof Co, depending on c and c', respectively (c is the concexatration of Co). Themeasured resistivity of the alloy containing 4 at. % Co shows a constant valuebelow about 4 K, decreases with increasing temperature in proportion to T" upto about 14 K auxd exhibits a minimum. These results suggest that the resistivityminimum in Cr-Co alloys is due to the Kondo effect by pairs of Co atoms, notby isolated Co atoms. The Kondo temperature T. of Cr-4 at.3 Co alloy isestimated to be about 280 K and is considerably high.
