Neutron Diffraction of Liquid Sb-Zn Alloys

Atomic structures of liquid Sb-Zn alloys have been measured by the neutron diffraction method. The first peaks of the observed structure factors of the alloys (15, 35, 50 and 60 at% Zn) are split into two maxima. The partial structure factors are obtained from these results on the assumption that they are independent of the concentration of Zn atoms. The total structure factors reproduced from the partial ones are self-consistently in good agreement with the experimental results of the alloys of 15 to 50 at% Zn. The position of the first peak of the pair correlation function g_<Sb-Zn>(r) is closer to the origin than those of g_<Sb-Sb>(r) and g_<Zn-Zn>(r).
