Compound-Forming Effect in the Electrical Resistivity of Liquid Pb-Te Alloys

The electrical resistivity of liquid Pb-Te alloys has been measured as a functionof temrerature and concentration. The resistivit>z isotherm has a remarkablemaximum and the temperature coefficient of the resistivity has large negativevalue around the equiatomic composition, suggesting that a kind of compoundformation exists at this composition. The excess resistivities are interpreted interms of the resonance scattering caused by the compound of PbTe with a finitelife time. A similar behaviour of the resistivity in liquid Sn-Te alloys is alsoexplained satisfactorily by the same model.
