Electronic Band Structure of C_8Cs Studied by Highly-Angle-Resolved Ultraviolet Photoelectron Spectroscopy

The electronic band structure of the first-stage cesium-intercalated graphite C.Cswas determined by the highly-angle-resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy.We found a prominent energy dispersion of the .'8' band at K point for the first time.The experimentally-estimated electron occupancy of the n' band is 0.45;0.05 unitelectronic charge. This strongly suggests that another half of a unit electronic chargeis accommodated in the interlayer band at the T point. The present experimentalresults have been compared with the theoretical bautd calculations presented so far aswell as with the recently reported experimental results on Cs overlayer on graphite.
