X-Ray Photoemission Study of 13-cis and All-trans Fluoropheny-Retinal

• X-ray photoelectron spectra were measured for the valence bands of 13-cisand all-trans fluorophenyl-retinals. A remarkable difference has been observed inthe 0 2,v-derived portion of the valence band between the two forms. The ex-perimental results were interpreted using the CNDO/S molecular orbital methods.
