The Cl-L_<2,3> absorption spectra of silver chloride and thallous chloride with high resolution have been obtained photographically at room liquid nitrogen temperatures by the use of synchrotron radiation from a 1.3 GeV electron synchrotron at INS-Tokyo. The structures for both materials near the thresholds around 200 eV are much better resolved than those reported so far. Antiresonance dips are found to occur at the absorption thresholds. Structures of the spectra in the vicinity of the threshold are interpreted in terms of the energy band structure and the formation of core excitons. A few broad bands exist in the region above 210 eV in both materials.
