EPR Study of Cu^<2+> Impurity Centre in WO_3

EPR measurements on Cu" centre in WO, arc made at 131 K using an X-bandspectrometer. The determined g and A parameters in the spin Hamiltonian have203 20d 24 10-'strong c-axts anusotropy, as g.= . 5 , g,= . 50, g,=2.4I5 an A.= .5 Xcm',4.=l8.9X]0'cm',.4,= -99.0X10'cm' (EuNerian angles; 2j=1l.7',cp,=44.5', zjt,=6.5'). The ground state of Cu" ion is determined to be ?x'-y') byg-value analysis. Two models for Cu" centre are discussed by comparing withprevious EPR results for V"(3d') ton in WO,; one is Cu" centre associated oxygenvacancy at the nearest site along the c-axis and the other is Cu" centre located at interstitial site.
