"Fua-gio-chhau" is a folk medicine in Taiwan, used as a remedy for nephrolithiasis, vesical calculi, nephritis, hepatitis, etc. This is believed to have been derived from the aerial part of Orthosiphon grandiflorus BOLDING (=O. aristatus) of Labiate by Hsu, Kan and Lai. But, varieties of drugs on the Taiwan market which take this name are not identical with this plant. To determine the botanical origins of the commercial drug, "Fua-gio-chhau" on the Taiwan market, histological studies were made. The results show that the botanical origins of "Fua-gio-chhau" on the Taiwan market are composed of the following plants: (A) the entire plant or the aerial part of Orthosiphon aristatus (BLUME) MIQ., (B) the leaves, occasionally entire plant, of Clerodendrum calamitosum L., (C) the mixture of O. aristatus and C. calamitosum.
